Why wasn’t Lunghu informed beforehand?!!?  After a twenty-year absence, Canadian ice canoe races were once again staged on the Rivière St. Laurent a la ville de Montreal le Samedi dernier (last Saturday).  Three categories of competitors (Men’s Elite, Women’s Elite, Sport) launched their canoes across the ice in Montreal’s Old Port, and rowed a course of indeterminate length on the frigid waters of the St. Lawrence.  Best of all, nobody had to pay the Rizzuto clan for protection from “unfortunate accidents.”Circuit International de Canot a Glace_20130223

Seems like they’re using Concept2 hatchet-blade oars (from Vermont) … instead of Mitchell canoe paddles (from New Hampshire).  Ancien voyageurs might not approve.

Who won?  Does it really matter?  What counts is that everyone survived!
